Admissions Season is Warming up! | 樂(lè)成國(guó)際學(xué)校申請(qǐng)季預(yù)熱——大學(xué)招生教育展

　　Last week, the Council of International Schools’ (CIS) University Fair made a stop at Beijing City International School (BCIS), showcasing over 20 universities from the US, UK and Canada to prospective Grade 12 students and high school parents. University reps fielded questions and provided attendees with invaluable advice on university admissions, as well as conducting two workshops for parents and students on “University Admissions Standards” and “How to Write Personal Statements”.

　　上周，由國(guó)際學(xué)校聯(lián)合會(huì)（CIS）主辦的大學(xué)教育展走進(jìn)北京樂(lè)成國(guó)際學(xué)校（BCIS），來(lái)自美國(guó)、英國(guó)、加拿大的超過(guò)20個(gè)高校招生官親臨中學(xué)部，為12年級(jí)的學(xué)生以及中學(xué)部家長(zhǎng)提供現(xiàn)場(chǎng)咨詢服務(wù)，并開展了“如何撰寫個(gè)人陳述”“大學(xué)錄取標(biāo)準(zhǔn)”2場(chǎng)講座，幫助即將面對(duì)擇校選擇的家庭對(duì)學(xué)校、對(duì)申請(qǐng)流程及要求有了初步了解。

　　The fair saw excited and interested students and parents gathered around University of Southern California, New York University, Northumbia University, The Pennsylvania State University, Northwestern University in Qatar and many other booths. Parents and students said that being able speak face-to-face with admission officers and university reps gave them the opportunity to ask questions otherwise unanswerable by the university website and gain a more intuitive sense of the universities’ culture, policies and teaching approaches. Many university reps expressed that they were familiar with the high caliber students at BCIS and had customized their pitches in order to attract BCIS students.

　　大學(xué)展現(xiàn)場(chǎng)，我們看到南加大、紐約大學(xué)、西北大學(xué)卡塔爾分校、塔爾薩大學(xué)、英國(guó)諾森比亞大學(xué)、加拿大瑞爾森大學(xué)等高校的展臺(tái)前聚集了不少感興趣的學(xué)生和家長(zhǎng)。面對(duì)面的交流讓我們的學(xué)生可以直接向招生官詢問(wèn)官方網(wǎng)站和招生手冊(cè)中未能解答的個(gè)性化問(wèn)題，對(duì)于心儀大學(xué)的文化、政策、教學(xué)有更加直觀的感受；而招生官親臨BCIS校園，對(duì)BCIS的教學(xué)理念、學(xué)生素質(zhì)有了切身的體會(huì)，他們獲得的滿意體驗(yàn)，或許將對(duì)未來(lái)BCIS學(xué)生申請(qǐng)起到積極作用。

　　As universities in the US, UK, Canada and further afield have seen increasing numbers of international students in recent years, many universities now look to be proactive in this growing market by participating in university tours like this one. University reps delivered a workshop on “University Admissions Standards”, that gave incredible insight into the thinking of an admissions officer and how admissions decisions are made, the factors that impact decisions and the necessary tools, apps and websites students need to get the best chance. Whilst the workshop on “How to Write a Personal Statement” focused on one of the crucial elements in any university application – the personal essay.

　　近年來(lái)，很多美國(guó)、英國(guó)大學(xué)都在不斷擴(kuò)大留學(xué)生招生數(shù)量，為鼓勵(lì)更多優(yōu)秀的國(guó)際學(xué)生申請(qǐng)，他們開始走訪中國(guó)的各個(gè)國(guó)際學(xué)校，為學(xué)生帶來(lái)申請(qǐng)輔導(dǎo)和獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金等政策介紹。主題為“如何撰寫個(gè)人陳述”的講座介紹了招生官眼中的“優(yōu)秀學(xué)生標(biāo)準(zhǔn)”，幫助學(xué)生站在大學(xué)的角度審視自己，思考如果在個(gè)人陳述中展示更多有價(jià)值的內(nèi)容。關(guān)于“大學(xué)錄取標(biāo)準(zhǔn)”的講座則從數(shù)據(jù)、規(guī)定和實(shí)際情況出發(fā)，為學(xué)生和家長(zhǎng)明確了申請(qǐng)所需的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)化考試成績(jī)和材料要求。

　　Whilst this was the first year BCIS hosted the CIS University Fair, feedback from both students and parents, and university reps and admissions officers was overwhelmingly positive. BCIS counsels and support all our to make the best choices for their journey after graduating from BCIS. University fairs like this are one way help them in making their choices.Inviting both grade 12 and high school parents helped to create more #BCIScommunication and #BCISconnectedness between the BCIS community and the international universities.

　　這是CIS在BCIS校園第一次舉辦大學(xué)招生教育展，秉承#BCIS連通世界#的理念，為國(guó)外高校和社區(qū)成員建立起了便利的溝通橋梁，得到了學(xué)生、家長(zhǎng)、招生官、主辦方的一致好評(píng)。招生官對(duì)BCIS的學(xué)生充滿信心和期待，我們也希望以此為12年級(jí)的準(zhǔn)畢業(yè)生們提供更多的大學(xué)和專業(yè)選擇機(jī)會(huì)，幫助他們?cè)诖髮W(xué)申請(qǐng)中做出最好的決定。
